The elevators of the Marina Center have gone from bad to worse in the last few years. Besides the vandals who occasionally perform deliberate acts of belligerence, the building management simply does not seem to see the need to keep them in good working order. As old as they may be, they should be maintained and kept clean. When something breaks, you fix it, especially when people are paying you rent which contributes to the upkeep of the building. It is embarrassing to have visitors come over and have to use these slum elevators.
Click the images below to enlarge them and view the disgusting condition of the elevators.
Not everyone can afford moving. The elderlies, the sick, the families.....etc. We have to live with the vandalisim, burglaries, smells, dirt, noise and dangerous crazy non respectful tenants. What can we do? When I moved here many many years ago it was a good place to live. Now? I'm scared, unsecured, bothered and discourage and cannot afford to move again. What can we do? The administration staff changes every 3 months, the cleaning crew is changing also. When someone is finally making a difference in this building they quit....and I can't blame them. HELP HELP HELP please lets save our homes......PLEASE for all the good people left here!
ReplyDeleteIt has been two weeks now since elevator number broke down (today is August 13th 2014) and they still have not repaired it.
ReplyDeleteHi, I was considering moving to this building because of the nice view on the river. I ran into this blog by chance.
ReplyDeleteWhen I visited the apartment I was surprised by a strong smell in the elevator. I noticed a few "strange" people.
I would like to know if there was any improvement in the management recently and if the tenants do not advise to move in.
thanks!
Although there is a new building manager (since a few months), little has changed.
DeleteThe smell in the elevators extends to the apartments and management refuses to fix the problems with the ventilation system. So when someone cooks, everybody smells it. In the morning when people leave for work, the halls fill with the smell of vehicle exhaust all the way through the upper floors. And on some days the entrance hallway smells of garbage because the garbage chute storage area is just below the entrance next to elevators.
The condition of the elevators alone should tell you something about the building and the people in it. Vandalism, spit all over the walls... do you need more to make a decision?
And as for the "strange people"... just park in front of the building for a few hours and you will likely see the police, ambulances, drug dealers, etc. The Marina Center is a known hot spot for the police, who are here at least once a week.
No security camera system, despite the vandalism and filth. Ask yourself why? Is it because the slum-lord style owner makes more money by having people move in an out because of the mounting filth than by keeping it clean? Few long term tenants, means few complaints.
So you still want to live in the Marina?
I would like to ask the person who runs this blog. How long have you been living at the Marina? Are you still living at the Marina and why if it's so disgusting? It's a 240 apparment building and every one is different. I agree, it is not the best building in the area but it is not the worst either. Rent versus apparment, it's expensive but you can get worst and yes you can get better but for more money. Some tenants should be evicted but yet there is some good ones. If you are a tenant here and know many tenants maybe you should make a tenant comittee! But the important thing is if tenants talk to each other, than do not be frightened and go complain in groups. And dont be scared to advise tenants doing the wrong things. This is a building worth saving then let's work for it. Let's make signs, call the police, go to admistration and complain in groups, etc. Let's get rid of the noise makers, drug dealers, prostitution, animal owners that do not follow the rules. They are elderlies, handicaps, sick people, let's help all of them that cannot defend themselves.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea....
DeleteThe elevators are worse than ever. They are a danger to all tenants. First they look worse than ever and secondly they are very dangerous to use. Complaining does not give any results. WHO can we complain to, so the problem can be resolved for good!
ReplyDeleteMezzanine elevator broken again for two weeks in the beginning of November 2014.
